Description

REPRESENTATIVENESS STUDY ON THE SOCIAL PARTNERS IN SELECTED SECTORS IN EUROPE

notus-asr has coordinated several representativeness studies in selected sectors in Europe: electricity, chemical, transport, woodworking, graphical industry, furniture, maritime, postal services, railway, road transport and logistics, hotels, restaurants and catering.

The representativeness, sectorial studies in Europe aim to identify and analyse trade unions and employers’ organisations at national and European levels in each of the sectors studied. These studies are driven by the European Commission with the objective of identifying and recognising representative European social actors in each sector in order to be consulted according to the provisions of the EC Treaty.

These studies have been designed in order to provide the basic information necessary to establish and support European social dialogue in each sector facilitating: a) identification and analysis of trade unions and national employers’ organisations in each sector with a special emphasis on information regarding members or affiliates, their role in collective bargaining and public policy, as well as in national, European and international organisations to which they are affiliated; b) analyse trade unions and European employers’ organisations relevant to the sector, in particular their composition and mandate/ capacity of negotiation to negotiate agreements.
