Description
notus PROVIDES TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO THE BARCELONA CITY COUNCIL IN MANAGING THE URBINCLUSION PROJECT, A NETWORK OF NINE EUROPEAN CITIES WHOSE AIM IS TO COMBAT URBAN POVERTY.
In the project framework, these cities—including Lyon, Krakow, Glasgow, Copenhagen and Turin—will exchange methods, focuses and concrete experiences that will be used to improve their respective strategies for fighting poverty in urban environments with special needs. To do so, subject-based seminars and group and city-city exchanges of experiences (peer review) will be organised.
In the case of Barcelona, the URBinclusion Project will have an impact on the Bon Pastor neighbourhood, in the Sant Andreu district. To assure that the knowledge acquired is transformed into concrete actions, the city council has established a Local Support Group made up of the main agents working in this neighbourhood, including social organisations. This group will analyse, the experiences and methods set out and will decide on their application to improve the neighbourhood’s socioeconomic cohesion.
