Description

INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS AND INDUSTRIAL DEMOCRACY – UPDATING COMPOSITE INDICATORS AND ANALYSING TRENDS OVER TIME

In 2016 Eurofound defined a conceptual framework of industrial relations, defining four key dimensions: industrial democracy, industrial competitiveness, social justice and quality of work and employment (Eurofound, 2016). Since then, Notus has been working on several studies commissioned by Eurofound to apply this framework and build different tools to map and analyse the industrial relations systems at the national level: a dashboard, a set of composite indicators and a typology (Eurofound, 2018). This study aims to continue this line of work. The objectives are: 1) To revisit and update the composite indicator of each of the four key dimensions for the period 2018-2021 with new data and if need be new indicators; 2) To develop a cross-time analysis of the composite indicator of the key dimension ‘industrial democracy’ for the period 2018-2021, in particular convergence/divergence and upward/downward trends in the industrial relations systems at the national level.
