THE INTERACTION OF MINIMUM WAGES AND COLLECTIVE BARGAINING FOR LOW-PAID GROUPS

This research aims to analyses how changes to statutory minimum wages impact collectively agreed minimum wages and actual wages and how they can impact the collective bargaining landscape for selected low paid jobs or sectors. To this aim, the project combines a mix of methods for data collection, which complements each other:

  • Desk research and documentary analysis.
  • Quantitative analysis of the relationship between minimum wages and collectively agreed through the use of EU surveys and databases, including the Eurofound database on minimum wage rates applicable to low-paid jobs.
  • Semi-structured interviews with social partners and policymakers the selected countries to evaluate the way in which minimum wages and collectively agreed wages interact
