STUDY. REPLACEMENT OF WORKERS FOR RETIREMENT IN THE COMPANIES OF HOSPITALET DE LLOBREGAT
The study aims to identify the replacement demand of workers who will retire in the next 10 years in Hospitalet and identify training needs to meet the requirements of companies to hire workers for their replacement. The study was carried out based on a statistical analysis to calculate the volume and characteristics of the potential active population who are about to retire in Hospitalet, broken down by the main economic sectors of the city. In a second phase, an on-line survey was completed, supplemented by a telephone survey and some face-to-face interviews to get to know the details of the replacement demand and the practices of companies to plan the effects of an aging workforce. The survey has focused on a sample of companies in the industrial sector and has been complemented with some companies in the service sector. In the survey, information was collected on the characteristics of the business activity, substitution policies and the requirements of the profiles to replace them, as well as the difficulties in finding the right labour force for the labour market. In addition, through the survey and the interviews, the impact of the aging of the owners of small local businesses on the industrial fabric of the city and on the labour market was detected, enabling the calaculation of the number of companies that will potentially close in the following years.
