TRAINING FOR RESEARCH STAFF ON HOW TO INTRODUCE THE GENDER PERSPECTIVE IN RESEARCH PROJECTS
Technical assistance for the design and delivery of a 12-hour training course for research staff at the Universidade da Coruña. The course is promoted by the per Office for Gender Equality of the University of A Coruña, with the aim of training research staff on what the gender perspective is and how to introduce it in a transversal way in research.
The course is structured in three sessions of 4 hours each and has been designed based on a didactic combination of online format and participatory methodologies based on the exchange of knowledge and co-creation, so that the training material combines the theoretical modules with the systematisation of the practical work carried out by the groups.
The methodology and objective are oriented to be successful in the calls and to generate knowledge through the reflection and shared experience of the participants. The content is structured in the following blocks:

Initial block of basic concepts. Key concepts in gender theory. Gender mainstreaming and the difference between gender projects and projects with a gender perspective. Policy framework (ERA priorities, Science Act, equality policies in funding agencies, etc.) and the importance of incorporating the gender perspective in science and innovation.

Tools to advance equality in science and innovation. Gender perspective in teams. Gender perspective in research. Issues of form (e.g. inclusive language) and issues of content.

How to incorporate a gender perspective in research. Review of formats and calls for proposals. Practical keys to mainstreaming gender in the project cycle / research cycle. Examples of good practices in STEM areas. Recommendations for each stage of the research cycle (idea phase, proposal phase, research phase, dissemination phase).

Gender-sensitive proposal development. General practical recommendations for project design. Methodological recommendations. Checklist (key questions) for each part of the project (identification and design, objectives, activities and indicators, implementation, monitoring and evaluation).
