LONG-TERM UNEMPLOYMENT YOUTH: CHARACTERISTICS AND POLICY RESPONSES
The objectives of the project are: (1) describing the characteristics of long-term unemployed youth; (2) identifying the determinants and consequences of long-term youth unemployment; (3) reviewing policy measures targeting long-term unemployed youth; and (4) identifying good practices in re-integrating long-term unemployed youth into education or the labour market.
To select the policy measures to be revised and analysed, some quality criteria are taken into consideration, based on the inputs, output, outcome, impact, policy relevance, innovativeness and transferability of policy measures. To analyse the policy measures, interviews are conducted with social partners, policy makers, Public Employment Services staff and representatives from youth organisations. The countries included in the study are Austria, Belgium, Spain, France, Ireland, Italy, Romania, Sweden, Slovakia and United Kingdom.
Eurofound carries out the research concerning the first two goals in-house whilst notus / FGB is responsible for conducting the scientific coordination of the part to achieve the third and fourth objectives.
