Rachel Palmén


Sociologist and researcher at Notus.

She finished her doctoral thesis in 2007 in CRESR (Centre for Regional Economic and Social Research) at Sheffield Hallam University, which examined community engagement proceses in Brazil and the U.K.

Her main research interests include gender and science, community engagement and public policy. She forms part of the GenPORT consortium, an FP7 support and co-ordination project to develop an internet portal for knowledge exchange and collaboration on gender and science. Recently she has coordinated a civil society dialogue project cofunded by the the European Union and the Republic of Turkey about violence against women in Turkey, Spain and Italy. She has published various articles in a wide range of social science journals as well as book chapters. She is interested in comparative research and Works mainly with qualitative data.
