Exchange of experiences of the REDERA+ project in Slovenia
The seventh of the joint learning events of the RedEra+ project “Revitalization and entrepreneurship for deprived European rural areas”, a project funded by the European Erasmus + programme, was held on 6, 7 and 8 April. The event was organised by the OŠ Lovrenc na Pohorju (Slovenia). During these days, the project partners learned about several experiences of entrepreneurs in the rural area of Lovrenc na Pohorju and visit the University of Maribor, the Municipality of Lovrenc na Pohorju and the Regional Development Agency for Podravje – Maribor.
During the event the project partners learned about the following experiences:
- Innovation projects driven by the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences. The University of Maribor has the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences located on the outskirts of the city of Maribor and has land where practical knowledge can be acquired. After a brief presentation of their educational offer, faculty staff explain the international and national research projects they have carried out. An important part of their projects is related to ICT and its adaptation to the agricultural activity and the 4.0 transformation. Within these projects, they are working on topics such as the use of ICT in farm management, smart farming and precision agriculture.
- 5 experiences of entrepreneurs in the rural area of Lovrenc na Pohorju. During the visit to Lovrenc na Pohorju, five women entrepreneurs carrying out projects in the area explained their experiences. They decided to become entrepreneurs, some of them in the middle of the COVID pandemic, with success. In most cases, they left their old jobs to set up their own business. In some cases, it also meant a return to their home and locality because they were working and/or living abroad. Specifically, the experiences visited were: Nelly’s Food Truck, consisting of a travelling fast food stall; Salvia, dedicated to the manufacture and sale of creams and soaps made from natural products; Saint Lorenz is an oven and bakery; Making pasta, which manufactures different types of pasta; and Koča Dobnik consisting of rural accommodation in an old restored cottage.
This was the last exchange of experiences of the REDERA+ project. The next event will be the final conference where the main results and conclusions of the project will be presented. This final conference will be organised by Viceconsejería de empleo y relaciones laborales de la Junta de Comunidades de Castilla la Mancha (Spain) in Brussels.
