Marc Caballero, expert in local development and employment at notus, has participated in the conference “Citizen Participation: a new way to manage the City”. The conference was organised by the European Association for Local Democracy and the Torrent (Valencia) Town Council.
The conference, which was opened to local administration entities and civil society organisations, enabled participants to discuss different views about how Citizen Participation can be used as a core element of urban management. Conference participants also debated main challenges associated to current political circumstances, characterised by socio-politic polarisation.
notus took part in the expert board which analysed how Citizen Participation can contribute to the design of local policies favouring employment and social cohesion. notus provided a critical assessment of most common Citizen Participation models. It also provided an overview of innovative Citizen Participation experiences focused on urban regeneration, such as those developed in Napoli or Turing. These experiences were analysed within the “Urbact Urbinclusion network”, to which notus provides technical assistance.
