DEMOCRAT project conference in Düsseldorf

In March 2025, our company participated in the European DEMOCRAT project conference organised by the project partner Hochschule Düsseldorf (HSD) in Düsseldorf on 6 and 7 March 2025. The DEMOCRAT project works to strengthen the democratic competences of young people. These competences include critical thinking, democratic resilience, deliberation and solidarity participation.

The event brought together experts, education professionals, teachers and students from the pilot projects that DEMOCRAT is implementing in different European countries, with the aim of exchanging experiences and strategies on education for democracy (EfD). One of the challenges identified during the event is to develop assessment tools adapted to different target groups to ensure effective measurement of these competences.

During the conference, several initiatives that are being implemented were presented:

  • Solidarity and Participation with national and religious Minorities. Construction School. Krakow (PL)
  • KAOS Project: A Commitment to Democratic Memory. El Carme School (ESP)
  • Educacion ecosocial. Restructuring a quarter. Fuhem Colegio Montserrat (ESP)
  • Future Avatars with Responsible Democratic Citizenship Competences. Meilahti Primary School (FIN)
  • University of Jyväskylä, Teacher Education (FIN)
  • Local Elections Simulation. Saue Riigigümnaasium (EST)
  • KKG: Käthe Kollwitz Comprehensive School against Forgetting. Grevenbroich (DE)
  • Children’s conference and mediators. Förderturmhaus Altenessen (DE)
  • Game based Method Escape Room: Critical thinking against conspiracy theories. Salvador Allende House, Oer-Erkenschwick (DE)

In addition, keynote presentations were held on topics such as participatory development in schools, effective transfer of educational materials and education for digital citizenship, addressing the handling of misinformation in democratic didactics.

Our participation in this event reinforces our commitment to the promotion of democratic education and provides us with valuable insights to implement and improve educational practices that foster active and engaged citizenship.
