Notus takes part in the conference ‘Let’s Move Forward: A Commitment to the Prevention of Psychosocial Risks’, organised by the INSST
On 22 October, the conference ‘Let’s Move Forward: A Commitment to the Prevention of Psychosocial Risks’ was held in Madrid, organised by the National Institute for Safety and Health at Work (INSST) as part of the European Week for Safety and Health at Work. The event also served as a platform to launch the new campaign by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA), aimed at promoting mental health in the workplace and advancing the proactive management of psychosocial factors.
During the event, professionals, specialists and representatives from public administrations, businesses and social partners came together to analyse emerging challenges and the key evidence regarding psychological wellbeing at work. Throughout the morning, key issues were addressed from a practical and multidisciplinary perspective, including raising awareness of emotional demands and work overload, tools for preventing harassment and discrimination, managing stressors in changing environments, and procedures for screening and responding to conditions arising from psychosocial risks.
In the session dedicated to the presentation of key studies and research, our colleague Juan Arasanz Díaz gave a presentation entitled ‘Psychosocial risks in home care services’. During his presentation, he outlined the findings of the exploratory study “Home care workers: comprehensive overview of OSH risks”, carried out by Notus for EU-OSHA. The presentation focused on the specific conditions of the home care sector, characterised by a high prevalence of psychosocial risk factors — such as high emotional demands, lack of autonomy, the scattered nature of workplaces, and poor ergonomics in unsuitable environments — and emphasised the need to implement specific preventive measures to safeguard the mental health and wellbeing of these workers.
Through this contribution, Notus is helping to raise awareness of the situation in a sector that is key to care provision but is frequently overlooked in occupational safety and health policies, providing evidence to inform the development of future preventive measures at national and European level.
